My current hobbies include photography, hiking, and working out so I want to continue to live an active lifestyle. Photography is something that I had gotten more into in high school, and as much as I love digital, film photography has my heart. It’s just so much more difficult to get right and I enjoy the challenge immensely. Currently I am working with digital photography more often, as I am taking a class over photojournalism at college. Once I am more settled into my future career I have considered starting a photography business to keep myself busy, and bring in extra income. It is all up in the air currently though, I do not want to plan too far ahead because I want to make sure that I keep myself open to any opportunity that would come my way.
Staying active is another goal of mine. I feel like the only way to be successful is to make sure that you take care of your body as well as your mind. Yes, there are ups and downs, but in the end sticking to a fitness goal requires discipline and determination; something that translates over to the job world. I love hiking outdoors; it brings me a feeling of serenity. Sometimes the world is too loud – getting lost in nature is a great way to reset myself, and really think about what is important. It is very easy to get caught up in the feeling of needing to be ‘on’ constantly; taking a break is very important for mental health.
My other passion is coffee. I absolutely adore coffee shops, and really enjoy trying different roasters blends. For me, it doesn’t matter if there is anything stressful going on in my life, because once I have coffee I can relax for a bit. Also, visiting new coffee shops is always so much fun; the vibe is different in each one. Some of my favorites include Bennu Coffee in Austin and Rosella Coffee in San Antonio. If I ever decide to become a business owner it would be nice to open my own coffee shop. That’s just one thing that I could do, there are so many possibilities and it’s impossible to know what the future holds. I always have to remind myself to enjoy the journey because getting too caught up in any goal takes away from the beauty of life.
